Oak requires more linear scraping where pine will accept a little more cross-grain scraping. We see more chatter marks in oak and we definitely spend more time sharpening blades when we scrape white oak!

James – Yes, oak is a bit harder, and white oak a bit harder than red oak. It’s important to have experienced sanders who know the right grits to use and be able to reduce chatter marks.
