Fourth of July, 2017 Fireworks and Festivities for Westchester County NY

Where can you see the July 4th Fireworks this year?  Whether you’re looking for fireworks in Lower Westchester or Northern Westchester, the events will be spectacular.  This year, July 4th is on Tuesday, and you can find fireworks from Saturday, June 24th through Tuesday, July 4th 2017.

Updated 7/2/17:  I’ve reordered these so that the past events are at the bottom.  Independence Day festivities for July 3rd to July 4th are at the top of the page.  Also, I added in the fireworks for New Rochelle set for 7/4/17.  These were just published on 6/26 (before I wrote the blog post) and were not on the official New Rochelle website, so I didn’t want to post this info until I was sure it was occurring this year.  I’ve also discovered some additional last minute adds:

Music starts at 7:30pm and fireworks are scheduled to start at approximately 9:15pm

 

Kensico Dam Music Fest and Fireworks, Monday July 3rd 2017. Valhalla, NY 10595

Fireworks for 4th of July 2017 Westchester NYOn July 3rd, you can enjoy a picnic at the park with Pre-concert entertainment, beginning at 6pm.  The band performance will commence at 8pm, followed by fireworks around 9:15pm.  Fireworks will be in front of the dam.

 

Parking and admission are FREE, but carpooling strongly suggested as it does get a bit crowded in the lot.  You’ll get the most out of the concert and light show if you bring lawn chairs and blankets (in addition to your favorite food).

 

The Kensico Dam Plaza is located at the north end of the Bronx River Parkway in Valhalla. It can be reached via Rt. 22 or the Taconic State Parkway.  914-864-7000  Kensico Dam Plaza.

Rye Playland, Rye NY 10580 – July 3rd and July 4th (Monday and Tuesday)

Independence Day fireworks 2017 Westchester NYAt Rye Playland, you can enjoy rides during the day and fireworks at night. July 3rd and July 4th, 9:15pm. The park will be staying open later until midnight on these dates.  And, you can find fireworks each Friday night from July 7th until the Sept 1st.  Fireworks are FREE (But, there may be a fee for parking and of course there are admission fees for the rides). 1 Playland Parkway, Rye, NY. 914-813-7010.

 

Independence Day Fair Katonah, NY 10536 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday – during the day)

July 4th fireworks 2017 in Westchester CountyJoin John Jay Homestead and the Rotary Club of Bedford-Armonk bring you a  spirited reading of The Declaration of Independence.  Enjoy live music, food, crafts, games, house tours, and plenty of other fun activities on the grounds of John Jay Homestead. Free admission to the grounds; there are some fees for some activities and for food and drink, of course.  400 Jay Street, Katonah, NY 10536.  914-232-5651.

Peekskill Concert and Fireworks – Peekskill, NY 10566 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday)

The concert starts at 7pm in Riverfront Green Park and features the band, The Barnstorm.  Fireworks over the Hudson start at 9:15.

 

Sleepy Hollow Fireworks – Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday)

8:30- 9:15pm with Fireworks scheduled for dusk..Fireworks can be seen from Beekman Ave, Kingsland Point Park, Horan’s Landing Park, DeVries Park and Barnhart Park.


 

Port Chester/Rye Brook Fireworks – Port Chester, NY 10573 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday)

This will the 70th annual celebration with fireworks.  It will be at the Port Chester high school starting at 7:30pm and is brought to us by Neri’s Bakery products.  It will be at Ryan Stadium, 1 Tamarack Rd, Port Chester NY 10573.

 

Dobbs Ferry Waterfront Fireworks – Dobbs Ferry, NY 10522 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday)

The festivities start at 3pm and fireworks will commence a bit after 9pm.  Enjoy a bubble bus, petting zoo, inflatables and music .  You can bring your own food or buy refreshments there.  On July 4th, parking at the waterfront is for residents only and you will need to get a Dobbs Ferry permit.  You can get this at the police department (914-693-0024).  And, parking is on a first come, first serve basis so get there early.  After that, the lot will be closed.

 

Harbor Island Fireworks – Mamaroneck, NY 10543 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday)

Fireworks are planned for dark (most likely between 9 and 9:30pm).  Rain date is July 5.  There is also a carnival starting at 4pm (and carnivals and many other days with various starting times – you can find the full info here.  Harbor Island Park, (Boston Post Rd and Mamaroneck Ave) Mamaroneck, NY 10543

 

Spark the Sound – New Rochelle, NY 10801 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday)

Cap off your holiday evening with the grand fireworks display at the New Rochelle waterfront. This is brought to you from the New Rochelle Parks and Recreation.  Produced and sponsored by the famous Grucci family, the City of New Rochelle’s annual “Spark the Sound” extravaganza starts at 9:30 pm, rain or shine (let’s hope for the best as there may be some scattered showers. The best viewing locations are Hudson Park, Five Islands Park, and waterfront restaurants.

 

Harrison Shopping Center – Harrison, NY 10528 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday)

Enjoy the concert which starts at 7:45 and the fireworks at 9:30.  This is a FREE event.  Corner of Oakland and Halstead Ave, Harrison, NY 10528.

 

Mattheisen Park – Irvington, NY 10533 – July 4th, 2017 (Tuesday)

The park is only open for residents of Irvington only, but you are nearby, you still may be able to get a good view.  They are set to start around 9pm or as soon as it’s dark enough.  Please note that parking is rather limited and they are encouraging carpooling.  Plan to park at the Metro-North parking lot or up the hill at the Main Street school.

Please note that open fires and BBQ pits are not allowed (for safety reasons).  Also, the Mayor is encouraging residents to support the local restaurants (shop local!).

Mt Vernon, NY – June 24th (Saturday) – 3pm-10pm

Fourth of July fireworks for Westchester NYYes, Mt Vernon will be celebrating Independence Day in style.  Yes, fireworks are back!  Last year, Mayor Richard Thomas revived the fireworks after an almost 70 year hiatus.   Now, for the 2nd time in a row, the Mayor is bringing Mt Vernon a spectacular display at the high school.  Note…it’s early this year…on Saturday June 24th, so don’t miss out.  This year, it will be even bigger and better as the community celebrates patriotism, community values and Mt Vernon pride.  They will have a fidget spinner Guinness Book of World Records challenge, bouncy houses, video game trucks, zip lining and great music.  Fireworks are expected to start between 9 and 9:30.

Lewisboro Fireworks – June 24th (Saturday) – South Salem NY 10590

The event starts at 6pm and it’s the 19th Annual Fireworks Spectacular.  Bring chairs, blankets and flashlights.  There is live entertainment starting at 7pm and fireworks are expected to start at 9:25. There will be some food supplied by the Lion’s Club and some food trucks to supplement.  You are also welcom to picnic (but no BBQ’s).

Onatru Farm Park, 99 Elmwood Rd, South Salem, NY 10590.  Rain date June 27th (Tuesday).  There is a $20 parking fee.

Independence Celebrations Somers NY 10589 – June 24th (Saturday)

This year, Somers will also be celebrating the 4th of July early…on Saturday, June 24th at Reis Park.  This will be a full afternoon/evening event with opening ceremonies at 4:00pm.  The Lion’s Club will have a full BBQ and hroughout the day, you can enjoy sno cones, a blow up obstacle course, ultimate gaga, Somer’s Women’s Club Essay Contest Winners, face painting and patriotic tattoos, music, tug-o-war, a pie eating contest and of course the finale will be topped off with fireworks.  You can see the full schedule and tickets here:  Rain date is Sunday 7/25.

Scarsdale NY 10583 – June 29th (Thursday)

Locally, the fireworks start as early as June 29.  At the Scarsdale Pool Complex, there’s a band performance starting at 7:30 p.m., and the fireworks will start around 9:15 p.m.  311 Mamaroneck Road, Scarsdale NY 10583.

White Plains High School, White Plains NY 10605 – Friday, June 30th

Fourth of July fireworks in White Plains and Westchester NY 2017Don’t miss the date…yes, it’s on Friday, June 30th.  Bring blankets and chairs, and arrive early.  Enjoy music, games, entertainment food and fireworks.  The feature performance will be by “Tramps like Us.”  The event will be 6-10pm (fireworks around 9;15).

550 North St, White Plains, NY 10605

Cross County Shopping Center, Yonkers NY 10605 – Friday, June 30th

Gather your chairs and blanket and head on over to the Green in the center of the mall.  Enjoy the music by Broadway Project Band followed by a spectacular fireworks display.  The fireworks will be displayed from the north parking lot and can be viewed from all areas  of the mall.  This event is FREE.  (Note: some areas of the parking lot will be closed for safety reasons. 7-9:30pm.

 

Caramoor, Katonah NY 10536 – Saturday, July 1st, 2017 (and afternoon event Sunday 7/2)

4th of July 2017 fireworks in Westchester CountyCaramoor has their annual big event on Saturday 7/1 at 8pm where you can enjoy Pops, Patriots and Fireworks.  They will feature songs from the American Songbook.  Enjoy songs from Broadway’s Ryan Silverman, trumpet soloist Amy McCabe and the Westchester Symphonic Winds.  The evening will be topped off with a spectacular fireworks show set to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture.  This will be conducted by Curt Ebersole  Tickets range from $30-$85 and you do need to purchase these in advance (and yes, they sell out every year).  You can purchase tickets here and you will find the entire program here which includes hits from Rodgers & Hammerstein, Cole Porter and John Philip Sousa. .

Also, on Sunday,  7/2 they will have an afternoon Tea – Tea, tour and garden stroll at the Rosen House.
