Dog and cat costumes for Halloween
For those of you who know me, you know I love both dogs and cats, so it’s only fitting that I would do an article on Halloween costumes for pets. So these are my selections for dog costumes and cat costumes for Halloween. After all, our pets are part of the family, too and it’s a wonderful way to get your kids even more engaged for the upcoming holiday.
Some of these pet costumes are so super adorable. I hope you get a kick out of them, and I hope you find something fun and practical for your furry friend. Most of these can be purchased on Amazon.
Oh, and no matter how cute your dog or cat is, I recommend keeping them indoors for halloween. Keep them safe and comfy.

Dog costumes for Halloween
UPS:pet pal Halloween Costume – Love this. It’s so adorable. It tends to work better for mid to larger sized dogs with lighter fur (so the that you have a contrast with the brown. Don’t you just want to give this guy a hug?

Dog Lion Mane – This is super awesome for golden retrievers and golden labs. We grew up with a golden retriever and she was the best dog ever. Of course we would always keep her inside for halloween as we didn’t want to take any chances on our most precious family family member. I also love this costume because it’s so simple. For those who have dogs that don’t love costumes, this is a great choice.

Vampire dog and cat costume – This one is perfect for small dogs, such as Yorkies and also works for cats (although I know it’s a bit harder to keep cat costumes on…I know from experience with my own cats). Don’t you just want to give this little guy a hug?

Pumpkin Dog Sweater – This one is simple to get on and off (and comes in multiple sizes). It’s great for tiny to small as well as mid and larger size dogs. The colors are great and easily washable so you can reuse it for years to come.

DC hero – Wonder Woman – This is a great option for female dogs. It works for small to extra large dogs and the way the costume is designed in the back, it gives you some flexibility. I don’t think our dog would keep the gold headband on for more than a minute, but the costume looks great even without that. Our dog was always our hero.

Shark costume for dogs and cats – Oh I love this one. And, it’s great for both cats and dogs. It comes in so many sizes, too from small to XXXL.

Cat costumes for Halloween
Of course they now make more costumes for cats (my two fur balls would be happy to know that they are treated just as specially as their doggie counterparts). Please note that there are a few costumes above that are suitable for BOTH dogs and cats.
Sailor outfit for cats – awww. This is so cute. I’m not sure if my fur balls would keep the hat on, but I absolutely love this look. I have 2 black cats (brother and sister) so this outfit would look spectacular on them.

Raincoat halloween costume for cats – Oh gosh, this is so adorable too. But, while one of cats is super athletic and agile, neither of them like to stand up for very long…unless they are chasing a bug or the light on the laser, so this one may not be that practical. But, I couldn’t resist as it’s so cute.

Lion Mane Costume for cats – This one is more my cats’ style. They would keep this on longer and look so cute. I often tell them that are mini lions…but so much cuter. I love how all of the relatives of the cat family purr and play and sit in similar positions. It’s just so cute. When I was in Africa, I saw lions in the wild (w/ some babies) and they were just like my fur balls. So this one is cute and practical. Oh, and they have these available in different colors, if your cat is a different shade.

Oh, and Halloween costumes are not for every pet. Make sure your pet is comfortable and not too hot. We had years where we just put our dog in a costume for 10 or 15 minutes…just long enough to get a super cute picture. Our dog loved the attention.
